The "Lighthouse Lurker" award is achieved in conjunction with the International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend (illw.net - Home). It is given to operators who take part in running a special event station during the ILLW Weekend. This award is designed to be gained over a minimum period of 3 years. The criteria for gaining this award are as follows:

  • Only activations that have taken place after your ARPOC joining date are valid for claiming awards
  • Operate a station from a portable location that is also valid location in line with ILLW guidelines published at illw.net - Guidelines (see section B of the Award Rules for the definition of a "portable location")
  • Enter and be accepted as a valid location using the ILLW entry form located at illw.net - Entry form
  • Complete a standard exchange with at least 50 stations from the location (see section B of the Award Rules for the definition of a "standard exchange")
  • Complete the above criteria once per year, 3 times. (You can use the same location or different locations and it can be in non consecutive years)


To claim the award, applicants must:

  • Read the award rules before claiming an award - https://www.arpoc.org/rules/18-award-rules.html
  • Create a new thread in this forum section using their call sign as the title
  • Provide the date for each activation
  • Provide the name of each portable location
  • Provide the location of each portable location using the Maidenhead locator (6 digit) or GPS signed degrees format (DDD.dddd)
  • Provide the lighthouse name as listed on the ILLW website for each year
  • Provide the ILLW Number for each portable location
  • Provide their log for each portable location
  • Provide at least one photograph showing their station and it's surroundings at each portable location


Once an application has been verified, the applicant will receive a unique code that they may then use to download the award certificate via the awards portal.
