    LA westcoast portable this weekend

Hawing Thursday and Friday off I'm planing on getting a night away from the urban noise at home If the weather permits .
which day depends on the weather. So far Friday to Saturday seems best.
I will set up camp and my antenna somewhere in JP20qd, most likely in the vicinity of Molvika for those of you that's looking up the grid square in google maps now.

It's a short walk so i will bring lots of batteries for my KX3, and also my portable computer for digimodes, as well as multiple antennas.
I will spend some time experimenting with Pat, the lightweight winlink client for Linux, (www.getpat.io) as well as Linux and Android versions of pskmail, but i expect to have ample time and battery to do some portable ssb if anyone is interested.

I believe i will spend most of my time in 80, 60 and 40m and maybe 20 depending on conditions. I will not be chasing DX, but DX is of course welcomed if the opportunity arises. So if anyone have any band/time request i will bring antennas and try to plan accordingly, but http://www.voacap.com/prediction.html aren't very optimistic for qrp contacts outside of Europe.

Anyway. I'm looking forward to a day and a night in the forest. Away from both the electromagnetic and human qrm at home.

Hope to catch some of you on the air. Maybe some of you will be out portable this weekend too?

I looked for "Molvika",. but it doesn't seem to be in that square at all, seems to be up in the North of Norway.

Correct. No towns in that square at all.. hi hi.

The last part of the name vika actually translates to (the) bay.

I have no idea where the Mol part of the name originates from.
