Locations map

I'm sorry that I have had to force every member to read this post but I'm getting overwhelmed by the number of bad locations being added to the locations map. I have made the instructions on the map clearer but I wanted to ensure that everyone has seen them so they are duplicated here.

The locations map is there so that members can add details about sites that are good for setting up portable stations. It is not for listing your own home location.

Please follow these simple rules if you would like to add a location to the map:

  1. Use a descriptive location name. Remember that the locations are also viewable in the forum where members can't see the map so give some idea of where it is in the name field. "Westgate Bay, Kent, UK" is a good example. "M0LMK's favourite /P spot" is a bad example.
  2. Enter an accurate 6 digit maidenhead locator for the location.
  3. Put as much detail as you can in the details field. Provide some details about ease of access, parking, best type of antenna to use from your experience, are there any trees to hand an antenna from, any local facilities (cafe, toilets) and any other local knowledge.
Following the rules will help create a fantastic resource for portable operators everywhere and will stop me having to remove locations from the map that just say things like "A0ABC's QTH" and have no real value for members looking for a place to operate from.
